Risky's - Where the Locals go!

The summer is winding down and we had a fantastic season at JJ Twigs and Risky's.  The opening of our Dierbergs location in the Spring was a success and offers the great Pizza and top notch food you have come to expert from JJ Twigs...all with a lake view!

With the fall and winter season coming and the waterfront bars and restaurants closed, locals now come to Risky's to enjoy their favorite JJ Twigs menu items, enjoy great drink prices, see their favorite sports teams play on the multiple TV screens, and enjoy the company of other folks who make the lake their home year round.


Risky's has been a legendary local hangout for years!  Ask some locals in the bar (or one of our bartenders), and they will have many stories to tell of the good times over the years.  We moved from our old Bagnell Dam location in 2009 where we had 10 years of success with the greatest customers at the Lake.

Our place has the BEST happy hour at the lake from 3pm - 6pm with 2 for 1 drinks.  Our bartenders are fantastic and it's our customers that make it the best place to be.  Come in and play Keno and other games of chance, Buzztime Trivia, watch the games, or just hang out with your friends.  We promise...once you come in, you will make us a regular stop.  Come hang out with the locals...you never know who you will see in Risky's!

The 2013 Lake of the Ozarks Bike Fest is here!

2013 Lake of the Ozarks 7th Annual BikeFest on September 12-15th!! 
The weather looks great for one of the best events of the year at the Lake of the Ozarks.  It looks like we will avoid the rain that has dampened this event over the past couple of years, and it will be perfect riding weather!

This event is the ULTIMATE BikeFest experience and draws Motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the United States! Bikes will be rumbling their way to Lake of the Ozarks September 12-15 for this annual event at the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks! The area offers some of the Nation’s most scenic rides around the Lake of the Ozarks and through the rolling Ozark hills with spectacular views.

Come Visit the Bagnell Dam Strip and JJ Twigs!

The center lane of the Bagnell Dam Strip will be reserved for "motorcycle parking only" from Thursday morning until Sunday evening during the event. DJ Leo Case will be providing music and event announcements all day Saturday, with speakers set up along the Strip. Many of the bars and restaurants will have music, special events, beer gardens etc. during Bikefest.

In addition to over one-hundred biker-friendly bars, restaurants, hotels and campgrounds, there will be several vendor villages with Concerts, extreme motocross, and much more! JJ Twigs will be welcoming all bikers throughout the weekend. Come on in for a drink, some great food, and watch all the college and NFL games while taking a break from riding.

Are you ready for some Football!

At JJ Twigs, the football season could not come quick enough.  Our locations are the best places in town to watch your favorite NFL or College team.  That's because WE HAVE THEM ALL!  

NFL at Twigs

See every NFL Sunday game at JJ Twigs via our NFL Direct TV Sunday Ticket package.  If your team is playing on Sunday, we will have the game!  With dozen's of TV's available at our locations, you are sure to see who you want to see.  Come on in, have a cold one, and watch your Fantasy Team perform...you will be able to see Peterson in Minnesota, Brady in New England, Foster in Houston, and Johnson in Detroit.  

College football at Twigs

We also have ESPN College Game Day at both locations.  Game Day has several out of market college games, and we will have all the major Network games on also.  Twigs is the place to come if you are a Mizzou, Hawkeyes, or Cornhusker fan.  We always have large crowds of fans for these games, so if you root for the University of Missouri, Iowa, or Nebraska, come in wearing your colors and make some noise!

Don't forget the Food!

We roll out some great food specials for both NFL and College games.  

On Sundays, we feature 2 for 1 Pizzas, and bucket specials.  Beer and Football just go together!

5th Annual Save the TaTa's Golf Tournament!

One of the Best Golf Tournaments at the Lake!

Come on out to The Club at Porto Cima for one of the best golf tournaments held during the year.  JJ Twigs is proud to be the sponsor of the Save The Ta-Ta's golf tournament now in it's 5th year!  This year's tournament will be held on September 16th with a Noon shotgun start.  The tournament is a 4 person scramble and is limited to the first 124 paid registrants.  The cost of the tournament is $150 per player.

The Club at Porto Cima

The Club at Porto Cima is a Jack Nicklaus "Signature" golf course – the only one in the state of Missouri.  It is regarded as one of the best golf courses around and if you have never played this course, get ready for a world class golf experience.  There will be various on course events, and the weather is typically fantastic!  Food will be provided, and beverages will be available at several of the holes, and this quickly becomes the social event of the year.

Want to win $2000?

Enter the Great Helicopter Golf Ball drop for a chance to win $2000 cash!  You can enter by donating $20 per square.  Only two hundred squares will be sold.  The number of the square that you donate $20 for will equate to a golf ball with that number.  The golf balls will be dropped by helicopter over the 18th Green and the ball closest to the hole (or in the hole!) will be the lucky winner.  If you are not a golfer, you can still participate in this great contest.

Saving the Ta-Tas

Proceeds from the golf tournament and the Golf Ball Drop will benefit the Lake Area Breast Cancer Care.  Jim and Patti Wedig (Owners of JJ Twigs) wanted to give something back to the local community by helping to raise awareness of Breast Cancer.  Patti is a breast cancer survivor and this event is a great way to help others with this disease.

How to get involved

If you would like to play in the tournament, buy a chance for the Golf Ball Drop, or help out in other ways, stop in or call JJ Twigs (either location).  See Twig or anyone at the restaurant.  In addition, you can call the Club at Porto Cima and talk to any of the staff to register for the tournament.

Trivia at Twigs!

JJ Twigs and Buzztime Trivia

JJ Twigs is the only restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks to offer Buzztime trivia!  The cool thing about Buzztime (formally known as NTN trivia) is that players compete in various games against other players in the restaurant and against players nationally.  A player can also accumulate points by playing multiple games and garner bragging rights as the smartest person at JJ Twigs.

History of Buzztime

Buzztime has been around since 1985 and broadcasts trivia and other games on a national network to over 3800 bars and restaurants in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.  Buzztime offers several different kinds of trivia games based on a variety of subjects, including pop culture, entertainment, world history, geography, sports and music, as well as general trivia games with questions in many categories.

How Buzztime works

Buzztime players use "Playmakers" to answer the questions that are displayed on our television screens. Questions are answered by pressing numbered buttons that correspond to multiple-choice answers.  Points are awarded by getting the correct answer the fastest and winner is displayed at the end of the game.  You can choose your own unique name (we have some very clever names of players at JJ Twigs), and select an avatar for your name by going to the Buzztime website and signing up for a free account.

After each game, the top 20 players in the nation and top 20 establishments on the entire network (based on an average of the five highest scores at that establishment) are broadcast in a "Network Rankings" summary for each game. We have teams gather at JJ Twigs to partake in the battle of wits and to see how high the restaurant can rank nationally.

Test your knowledge!

The next time you come into JJ Twigs, ask for a game box and give Buzztime a try!  Games are available in the main bar area of our Bagnell Dam location and in Risky's.  Just ask your server and he or she will help you out!  Bring your friends and see who is the smartest of the bunch.
