Time to embrace your inner athleticism! If you like kayaking, the Lake of the Ozarks, and a good challenge, this weekend's upcoming event is for you.
JJ Twigs wants to be the first to give you all the information on the upcoming 5th Annual 2 Dam Days Paddle Marathon. This challenging and thrilling event will take place this weekend, October 4th and 5th.
The Races
The main events this weekend will be two-day races between the dams at the Lake of the Ozarks - a staggering distance of 82.4 miles! "The Extreme Unlimited" is open to all boats regardless of their specifications, and "The Extreme Limited" is limited to boats 18' long or less. These races are not for the faint of heart, but winners will get to take home pretty sizable purses... and ultimate bragging rights!
Is a massive trek across the Lake not really your thing? Shorter races are available as well. Try your hand at a 3.5 mile sprint ("Anything Goes") or a 15.5 mile short race ("The Sweet 16").
The Winnings
The main races will each provide their racers with three different opportunities to win: individual winner for Day 1, individual winner for Day 2, and best racer overall for both days. 1st place: $1,120
2nd place: $840
3rd place: $560
4th place: $280
